The weekend

So nothing too excited going on here, but for the first time in over 2 years, I was alone. Luke had a bachelor party in Dubuque and took Anderson home to his parents house. At first I didn't want Anderson to go, but then I started thinking of all the projects I could get done and decided to let him go.

I had visions of getting a lot more done then I did which is sad because I never rested, but I did get all of the closets organized and cleaned out as well as all of my drawers, did a bunch of shopping (in peace), and mowed the lawn. Oh, I do have to take back the resting part, I did get a massage on Saturday so I was resting for a small amount of time.

Anderson got back and didn't even seemed to have missed me. He wouldn't come inside because he wanted to drive his car and when I came and got him he cried the whole time. So much for mom!!

Potty Time

Last night Anderson peed in the potty. I feel so bad though because I didn't actually realize he did it for a few minutes and didn't get to get crazy excited about it.

He has a seat that goes on top of the regular toilet. Every once in a while I let him sit there while his bath is filling up. Last night I just put him in the tub and he grabbed his butt and said "poopy...potty". (He hasn't figured out the difference between poop & pee yet, I've figured this out with his diapers as well). Anyway, I put him on the potty and he sat there a few minutes like usual and then I asked if he was done and he said "yeah.". So back in the tub he went. I hadn't heard him do anything on the toilet so I just assumed it was like the other times. Then I noticed that there was pee in the potty and it was on his seat too so he had definitely gone. I got excited for him then, but maybe I was too late?

Anyway, I am still not quite ready to go all out on the potty training, but I was very proud of him for at least doing this. What a big boy!!

In other news, yesterday he really started to say "yeah" a lot more. He has very rarely said yes. He usually says no and if he means yes he doesn't respond. I really noticed him responding "yeah" or "yes" to things yesterday. That will be a very nice change for us!

Easter

We had a busy Easter weekend. We headed up to Estherville on Friday night. On Saturday morning we took Anderson to his 3rd Easter egg hunt of the year. While we were waiting, Anderson was very anxious to get started. Then they gave us the "go" and he frooze and started screaming and bawling. I had to pull him along and grab a few eggs for him. I asked him later why he cried and he said "the bunny". I guess now that there finally was a bunny at the Easter egg hunt, it was just too much for him. The bunny was about half a football field away but he was still scared of him. It was pretty funny because the other hunts have just been him and I and this time we had a full entourage of Daddy, Nana, Papa and Aunt Lexie.

Right after the hunt we took off to Sioux Falls for the Hash family Easter. It was fun to have Anderson around other kids that kept him pretty busy. My cousin Stacie and her family got him another Monster Truck. This one is just slightly bigger then hotwheels and of course has the big tires. He loved that truck and hasn't let go of it since. He's even slept with it. Anyway, the truck kept him from eating any of the yummy food. He has no clue what he missed out on. He did let go of the truck long enough for the Easter Egg hunt there. He ended up with tons of candy from that one...and no crying!!

Sunday morning was church and then the final hunt just for Anderson. He liked that one, but we got him too many toys and he just ended up getting distracted with things. He does love the new lawnmower I got him. We made it home Sunday afternoon and he got a lot more time playing outside. It was a very nice weekend.

Some other funny things that happened:

• Anderson had PJ's that had a checkered flag on the butt. Nana asked him to show her his butt and he turned around, put his hands on his hips, and stuck his butt out at her.
• The next morning I told him to show my dad his butt. He did almost the same thing but this time he tooted. My dad and I took some time to crack up and then my dad asked him if he pooped. Anderson said, "no, just farted". I had never heard that word from him. I about died.

Coming Back

I've abandoned my blog. I got caught up with the fact that I had gotten so behind that I never returned to get it rolling again. Right now Anderson is learning new things every day and continues to amaze me. These are the things I was excited for when I first started my blog. So I've decided that even if I don't get pictures up on a regular basis, I should at least write down these cute things. If I do get some extra time, maybe I'll share some photos of what's been happening over the last year.

So, in recent news, Anderson has been in the two year old room at daycare for 4 weeks. He has learned so much in that time. Here's some tidbits about him

• He knows the difference between big & little
• He knows most colors, he's pretty consistent with yellow, green, pink & black and usually gets red, blue, purple and white.
• He can tell you the animal sounds for a cow, horse, sheep, pig, duck, puppy, lion, monkey and owl.
• He talks a lot more now which has lead to him eating a lot more since he learned how to ask for it. His favorite snacks are popcorn, cheese, pepperoni, and fruit snacks. He also likes his "ice water".
• He'll pretty much repeat whatever you say now and he usually can communicate well enough to get what he wants.
• He has moved to a toddler bed and this has pretty much eliminated him spending the night in our bed.
• We have a nightly routine to read some books, pray and then get tucked in and fall asleep while mommy sings.
• We go to the library and pick out books. Anderson loves books about cars & trains.
• Anderson loves playing outside and is often running out through the doggy door.
• We just finished up another round of Kindermusik. Anderson seems to enjoy it but is easily distracted and is definitely the naughty one in class.
• Anderson got a Harley trike & scooter for his birthday and he also got a helmet with flames. The helmet is for ages 5 and up. It's too small and tonight I have to run to the store and exchange it for something even bigger. He's got a big noggin.
• On Tuesday night (3/30), Anderson took a big fall and cut open his head on the shelf in our living room. It was the first time I actually thought we might need an ER visit. Fortunatly the bleeding was controlled pretty quickly and it wasn't as bad as I though.

Funny things that Anderson says

• His flame shoes are his "Harley shoes".
• He loves talking about his Aunt Lexie, otherwise known as "Sexy"
• He calls his scooter his cooters
• He always wants to draw and says "I color"
• He asks for "treats" and "ice water"
• When we drive he has to tell me everytime he sees a car, a truck, a big truck, or a house.
• He randomly started singing the ABC's the other day. It wasn't quite right, but enough to distinguish the song.
• He just started to say "Love you Mommy" and "Love you Daddy". He also has gotten really good at "Please" and just added "Thank You".
• He will randomly say "I Pray" and fold his hands. One day I asked him what we were going to pray for and he said "Daddy". I told him "Yes honey, daddy needs lots of prayers"
• We went to two Easter egg hunts last weekend and each time he'd say "a bunny?". Neither hunt had a bunny so last night I took him to the mall. He liked looking at the bunny from afar, but there was no getting near him.

Well, I think that catches you up on where things are at now. Hopefully I can be more active again now and post these new things as they happen. Maybe I can even get a few pics every once and a while.
